Legacy Hotels - Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge - any dates, not Fr - Fr like normal
The normal rate at the lodge is R6 262/n/room DB&B for 2 persons, we can give it to you for less, around R5 100/room/n.
The self catering timeshare units normally work out far better. I sometimes have 1 bedroom 2/5 sleepers mainly midweeks on special for the midweek.
If you are keen and flexible, mail me with your dates and I'll advise as soon as I get a unit in.

Self catering unit rental rates 2020:

Self catering timeshare units - any dates midweek, not Fr - Fr like normal, but 3 night weekends
1B2/4 - Chalet have 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and 2 sleeper (s & d) couches for kids, so can sleep 5, self catering - 2020 @ R3500/n if available. The Lodge sells this as a 4 sleeper.
2B6/8 - Chalet have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, loft with 2 singles and a double or 2 single sleeper couches for kids, so can sleep 8, self catering - 2020 @ R4500/n if available.
2B6/8 lux - as above plus Chalet have an extra splashpool - 2020 @ R5000/n if available.
You need to ask for the safety net if small kids, and you need to keep an eye on them as units next door won't have the net on.

All units are similar, not exactly the same. Unlike the Cabanas, there are no steps/stairs, except to the loft.

Main bedroom above & below, sliding door to the veranda (side) facing Park.

Main es bathroom, with bath no shower.

Slighly smaller twin bed room at back, 2nd bathroom with shower directly outside

Lounge with double sleeper couch. The lux units have 2 couches, no single chairs

Outside area. Also a Weber skottel, with gas supplied. Please use charcoal for the Braai, and use the Weber when windy.


In general 8 - 15 m to the fence. Lux units have the extra heated splash pool.

I've stayed at these units. They are fantastic and I prefer them to the Bakubung units, mainly because of the lack of human traffic passing between you and the animals, and the space that is on offer at Kwa in general. What is not supplied is the standard coffee/tea sachels, and of course swimming towels that no one offers in any case. Wi-fi is available, R75 for 500Mb (2019). Just note the last 6 or so chalets on the right lies in a bit of a hollow, and wifi there is pretty bad. No problem when you move closer to the Restaurant area though. There are also free activities offered - Stargazing and a Bird & Tree trail - 4 times a week, not weekends though. And then most amazing is the live feed from the waterhole to your chalet TV's - you can make it in 3 minutes max if there is an awesome sighting. You will need to go through a long tunnel, with about 20 steps at the entrance, and a few at the hide.
