Hitchhiking

  • Mozambique: Extremely difficult.
  • Namibia: Difficult except for couples. Distances are vast.
  • South Africa: Not recommended. Do so at your own risk.
  • Zimbabwe: Easy, especially for couples. If picked up by a local expect to pay the equivalent of a local bus fare. Don't get out to push the car and leave your gear inside!

    There is regularly lifts from all hostels at odd times. Visit other hostels - you might get lucky. Expect to pay.
