NALJ – 07-Day – Accommodated Okavango Expedition - South
This short and exciting tour begins in historical Livingstone, home to the Victoria Falls and many adventure sports, such as the world famous Zambezi White Water Rafting. The Chobe National Park in Botswana is not only home to the many elephants of this area, but a multitude of other wild animals as well, viewing the game from a boat is a unique and relaxing way to experience this National Park. The highlight of the trip is of course the Okavango Delta. We spend a few days doing Mokoro (traditional dug out canoes) rides through the winding channels and Nature Walks in this beautiful area. Then it's off through southern Botswana where South Africa and Johannesburg await.
Day 1 Zambia - Livingstone
Two per permanent tent – no meals
On arrival your guide will brief
you on the next few days. Most clients spend the day enjoying the exciting
optional activities on offer. The Victoria Falls is 1, 7 kilometers wide has
a height of about 128m. The Falls is a not to be missed experience and will
leave lasting memories. In the late afternoon we recommend the popular optional
sunset cruise that includes dinner and drinks.
Optional Activities: Zambezi Sunset Cruise, Victoria Falls.
Day 2 Botswana - Chobe National Park
Two per permanent tent B,L,D
Today we take a short drive across the Botswana to Kasane, located on the banks
of the Chobe River. Apart from being the 2nd biggest National Park
in Botswana, Chobe National Park is renowned for it’s high population of migratory
elephants. The afternoon river cruise is included in the tour price and many
people take the chance to go on the optional morning game drive the following
morning.
Optional Activities: Chobe
Game Drive.
Day 4 Namibia - Caprivi National Park
Two per room B,L,D
We leave Chobe behind us and
into Namibia. We travel through the Caprivi National Park en-route to our destination
beside the Zambezi River. The Caprivi National Park is home to 450 animal species.
Animals travel freely across the border with Botswana where the Chobe National
Park lies. We spend the night relaxing next to this mighty river.
Day 4/5 Okavango Delta
Two per room B,L,D
We arrive in the afternoon
where we leave our truck behind, and head into the Delta. We arrive at our
base for the next two days. During our time in the Delta we enjoy the best nature
has to offer. We go on nature walks and explore the Delta by mokoro. The Delta
is truly spectacular and unforgettable experience.
Day 6 Scenic Flight
Two per room B,L,D
We begin the morning with
a scenic flight from the northern Delta to Maun where we will meet up with the
truck again and then travel towards Palapye, previously know as Phalatswe, where
we’ll spend our first night. Palapye is located on the banks of the Lotsane
River.
Day 7 Johannesburg
Tour Ends. Own arrangements B,L
Today we cross the border into South Africa and after quite a long, yet scenic, drive we will arrive in Johannesburg. South Africa’s city of gold has much to offer and should not be underestimated as a travel destination. There are many excellent restaurants here where we can enjoy a final meal together.
